Sometimes baby teeth can stop adult teeth from erupting or coming in correctly. They can also be so badly damaged or decayed that removal of the tooth is best for your child.
Extraction is the removal of a tooth that is either so badly infected, decayed, or damaged that it cannot be saved by other dental treatments. Teeth can also be extracted if they pose a risk to other teeth, or are preventing your child’s adult teeth from growing.
Of course, if an extraction is required, Dr Betty Yip will ensure the process is as stress-free and pain-free as possible for your child. Most extractions are straightforward procedures that can be performed in just a few minutes under local anesthetic. If a child is particularly anxious or nervous, other sedation options can be discussed before the treatment begins.
After the treatment, we offer Space Maintainers that will help keep your child’s oral development on track until their adult teeth appear.
